Program Information
At Dialysis School of San Diego, students are provided with an in-depth knowledge (theory) and supervised clinical training (hands-on) necessary to prepare them for entry level employment as Dialysis Technician or sometimes referred to as Patient Care Technician or Hemodialysis Technician, now one of the fastest growing careers in healthcare. All students will receive a certificate of completion/Diploma upon successfully completing the program.
The training can be completed in approximately 5 months includes all of the following topics:
- Overview of Dialysis including dialysis environment
- Principles of Dialysis
- Care of Patients with kidney failure including interpersonal skills
- Dialysis procedures and documentation. Including initiation, proper cannulation techniques, monitoring, and termination of dialysis
- Vascular Access
- Possible complications of dialysis
- Water treatment and dialysate preparation
- Infection control
- Safety
- Dialyzer reprocessing
- Medication
- Nutrition
- Injury Illness Prevention Program
- Preceptor Basics/Skills
- State Exam Review
